The Minister of Communications, Dr. Benjamin Aggrey Ntim and his Deputy, Hon. Frederick Opare Ansah have expressed great satisfaction at the commitment and efficiency of service by staff of the Ministry and its agencies.
These sentiments were expressed at a farewell meeting held in their honour at the conference room of the Ministry, on Tuesday 6th January 2009.
The Minister attributed the successes gained by the Ministry locally to the excellent working relations enjoyed during their tenure of office. He said due to the commitment to duty of staff of the Ministry and Agencies, the Ministry was able to meet most of its policy objectives for the period under his administration.
He further indicated that by dint of hard work the Ministry was able to facilitate the passage of four bills, namely, the Electronic Transactions Bill, the Electronic Communications Bill, the National Communications Authority Bill, and the National Information Technology Agency Bill. It is expected that these bills will enhance the ICT industry and also support the private sector in the country.
On the International scene, he said, Ghana is highly acknowledged as a leading country committed to ICT development on the African continent. This he said is evident as Ghana at the 63rd session of the International Telecommunication Union was elected as Vice Chair by consensus in Geneva, Switzerland.
Dr. Ntim was also awarded the third best Minister of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Africa organized by ForgeAhead of South Africa. This feat, he was quick to attribute to the high-quality of staff he was privileged to work with.
He charged staff of the Ministry to extend the cordiality and loyalty that was enjoyed, to his successors.
