My Flood Risk Accra App Launched

Minister for Communications and Digitalisation, Mrs Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has launched a flood app dubbed “My Flood Risk Accra App”. 
“The flood app allows you to monitor the water-levels in your neighborhood or Municipality to inform the possibilities of flooding. It also has multiple flood maps (locations) different return periods and literacy information on the preparedness, prevention, response and recovery measures”.

Implement Digital Inclusion Policies – Hon. Usurla Owusu Ekuful

The Minister for Communications and Digitalisation, Hon Ursula Owusu Ekuful (MP), says it is important to implement digital inclusion policies to enable the digital transformation agenda of government which will ensure a universal access to ICTs.

“Government is convinced that technological developments and advancement all over the world have strongly influenced the growth and development of countries and Ghana is no different” she said.

Minister Inaugurates Nine-Member Board for GDNR

The Minister for Communications and Digitalisation, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful on Wednesday, 22nd September 2021 swore into office a nine (9) member board of trustee for the Ghana Domain Name Registry (GDNR) with a call on members to use their diverse backgrounds, skills and expertise to carefully navigate the redelegation process to ensure its successful completion. 

NITA Board Inaugurated

Board of Trustees for the National Information Technology Agency (NITA) has been inaugurated by the Minister for Communications and Digitalisation, Mrs Ursula Owusu-Ekuful with a call on agencies that regulate ICT space to do their jobs effectively. 
The National Information Technology Agency was established by the NITA Act, Act 771 in 2008 and supported by the Electronic Transactions Act (772) as the ICT policy implementing arm of the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation. 

Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation Introduces Tertiary Girls-in-ICT

Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation (MoCD) has introduced a new version of the Girls-in-ICT for Ladies in Tertiary Institutions. It was organised in partnership with Huawei Technologies, Ghana, S.A. Limited.
Participants, who were drawn from the University Students Association of Ghana (USAG) will be taken through a ten (10) day training programme in Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security. It is under the theme “Connected Girls, Creating Brighter Futures”.

Ursula Tours GIFEC Projects in the Western Region

Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, the Minister of Communications and Digitisation, has commissioned a fully-furnished Information and Communication Technology (ICT) laboratory for the Sefwi-Waiwso Senior High School in the Waiwso Municipality of the Western North Region.

The laboratory, which has 40 new desktop computers with accessories, was funded by the Ghana Investment for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) and aims at providing ICT opportunities to schools as part of the efforts to bridge the digital gap in the country.

Asantewaa Fauchie wins Girls-in-ICT

Fifteen year old Asantewaa Fauchie from Sefwi Kofikrom D/A JHS in the Juaboso District has been adjudged winner of the 2021 edition of the Girls-in-ICT program in the Western North Region of Ghana.
For her prize, she receives a cash of 2000 Ghana Cedis; a laptop and a plaque.

She was the best out of a thousand girls. This was disclosed at a ceremony held at the Catholic Pastoral Center today, Wednesday (15th September, 2021).

Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation Holds Mentorship Program

Thousand girls from selected basic schools in Sefwi Wiawso in the Western North Region have participated in the Mentorship program organised by the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation as part of its flagship program, Girls-in-ICT under the theme: Connected Girls, Creating Brighter Futures.
The Girls-in-ICT is an initiative of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), aimed at encouraging Girls to opt for careers within the Information and Communication Technology ICT (Sector).

Ursula pays courtesy call on Sefwi Wiawso paramountcy

Minister for Communications and Digitalisation (MoCD), Mrs Owusu-Ekuful has paid a courtesy call on the paramountcy of the Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Area.
The visit forms part of the Minister's tour of the region as the first port of call.
Accompanying the Minister were the Chief Director, Mrs Magdalene Apenteng, Director, Research Statistics and Information Management (RSIM), Mr. Alfred Nortey; Mr Prince Sefa, Administrator, Gifec; Ms Eva Andoh-Opoku, Deputy Administrator, Gifec; the Municipal Chief Executive for Sefwi Wiawso , Hon. Lewis Owusu Agyapong.

Beneficiaries of Girls-in-ICT happy with the Project

Beneficiaries of Girls-in-ICT project in Sefwi Wiawso in the Western North Region have expressed happiness with the introduction of the program and introducing them to the use of computers and ICT in general.
The Girls-in-ICT is a flagship program of the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation.
Under the Girls-in-ICT project, Nine (9) Districts in Western North and Prestea Huni Valley have been selected to present 1000 girls to be trained in Basic Computer Skills, Fundamentals of Programming, Scratch and HTML.
