2ND EDITION OF 2019 NATIONAL GIRLS-IN-ICT DAY CELEBRATION HELD IN CAPE COAST

The Minister for Communications, Mrs Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has urged young girls to prove their worth and correct stereotypes that limit their participation and career development in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

 

The Minister said girls and women are more capable of making a difference in the ICT industry when given the needed push, hence the initiative.

 

Ursula Owusu-Ekuful Awarded by FIDA

Ghana’s Communications Minister, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has been awarded by FIDA.

 

The award was in recognition of Mrs Owusu-Ekuful’s tremendous work in the protection of the rights of Women and Children.

 

The 2019 FIDA Africa Regional Congress held in Abuja, Nigeria was under the theme:

"The growth of Women and Children in Africa: beyond rhetoric"

Ministry of Communications Launches National Cyber Security Awareness Month

The Minister for Communications, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful launched the 2019 National Cyber Security Awareness Month to kick start activities lined up to educate the public on the trend of cybercrime in the country. This year’s celebration was on the theme ‘Demonstrating Ghana’s Cyber security Readiness’

 

This year’s celebration has been enhanced with the launch of the Incident Reporting Point of Contact, a platform that will facilitate reporting of cybercrime and cyber security incidents.

 

Ursula Honoured In Hungary

Ghana’s Communications Minister, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has been recognized at the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Telecom World Awards 2019 in Budapest, Hungary.

Mrs. Owusu-Ekuful was recognized for her “exceptional commitment and participation as a valuable partner in ITU Telecom World events.”

 

International Day for Universal Access to Information marked in Accra

This year’s International Day for Universal Access to Information (IDUAI) was marked in Accra last Friday with assurance by government to invest in world class communication infrastructure to drive sustainable development.

It was held on the theme, ‘’Access to Information – leaving no one behind!’’

MS. GEEK GHANA COMPETITION LAUNCHED IN ACCRA

The Ministry of Communications on Wednesday, October 9, 2019, launched the Ms. Geek Ghana Competition, aimed at empowering girls in the field of ICT.

The competition seeks to change the attitude of young girls towards the adoption of ICT and also equip them with digital skills, which is in line with the SDG goal 5 objectives of achieving gender equality and empowering all women and girls.

Over eighty (80) ICT and Telecom experts were honoured at the 9th edition of the Ghana Information Technology and Telecom Awards (GITTA) 2019 which was held at the Movenpick Ambassador hotel on Friday, June 28, 2019.
 
The event which was themed “Celebrating Innovation and Excellence in the ICT Sector”, attracted key stakeholders in the telecom and information communication technology industry from both Ghana and Nigeria.
