Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful Addresses World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) Congress in Geneva

The Minister for Communications, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekukful (MP) addressed the World Meteorological Congress at the International Conference Centre, Geneva (CICG) on Tuesday 11th June 2019 and stressed the important role of climatology and hydrology to the socioeconomic development and survival of humankind. She applauded the WMO’s efforts to assist member countries transform their national meteorological and hydrological agencies.

Ghana receives over 300 Satellite TV from China

The Chinese Ambassador, Shi Ting Wang, has handed over 300 satellite television sets to the government of Ghana to be distributed to selected public area and households in the rural areas.

The presentation was in line with a project christened “300 village satellite TV project”, launched by the Ministry of Communications, in collaboration with StarTimes, a Chinese Multimedia company in September 2018.

The project is aimed at bridging the digital divide and ensuring that all citizens especially the rural communities enjoy the full benefits of digitalization.

MEGHIS to get Assistance from the Ministry of Communications

The Minister for Communications, Hon. Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, has pledged the Ministry’s readiness to assist the Methodist Girls’ High School (MEGHIS), at Mamfe Akuapem in the Eastern Region to purchase robotic kits, laptops and other necessary equipment needed to complete more robotic competitions.

The gesture is to encourage the school to train more girls to participate in more challenging robotic competitions across the globe.

Government to Introduce a Cyber Security Bill to protect Children against Cyber Crime-Communications Minister

The Minister for Communications, Mrs Ursula Owusu- Ekuful, has hinted that the government is preparing a legislation to protect and sanitise the cyber space against criminal acts and abuses.

She indicated that the new safeguard measure is aimed at protecting children against cyber crime.

Mrs Owusu-Ekuful disclosed this at the second National Girls in ICT Day which climaxed on Monday in Takoradi on the theme ‘Expanding horizons, changing attitudes.”

Take advantage of the Opportunities in the ICT World-Communications Minister

The Minister for Communications, Mrs Ursula Owusu- Ekuful, has encouraged girls in Ghana’s basic schools to be passionate and take advantage of the opportunities that the Information, Communications and technology (ICT) world offers people, globally.

She argued that, with the desire and determination, young girls in Ghana can hive opportunities in ICT and even create jobs for themselves, provided they remained focused in their studies.

Ursula tours Girls in ICT Training Centres

The Minister for Communications, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has toured some centres in the Western region training girls in ICT.

The visit was ahead of the 2019 Girls in ICT celebration to be held on May 27.

Ministry of Communications hands over LTE Fibre Asset Management to Lebara Ghana

The Minister for Communications, Hon. Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, in a short ceremony on May 3, 2019, handed over the e-Government Infrastructure to Lebara Ghana Ltd to manage and commercialise for ten (10) years. The government fibre and LTE network was previously managed by the National Information Technology Agency (NITA).

Ghana Leads West Africa Cyber Security Awareness Drive

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), has appealed to President Akufo-Addo to allow Ghana lead the cyber security awareness drive across the West African sub-region.

Minister for Communications, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, made this known on Friday at the Lansdown Hotel, Aburi, during the opening session of the National Cyber Security Technical Working Group’s first retreat for 2019.

Minister Demands Cooperation in Fight against Cybercrime

Minister for Communications, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, has called for stronger ties among the 63 member states of the Budapest Convention on Cybercrime.

According to the Minister, each of the 63 states needs to identify their unique role and obligations to ensure the effective implementation of the Convention. Failure to cooperate effectively, she said, will mean that the various states risk sinking together.
