Ministry of Communications wins Award

IMANI Centre for Policy and Education released its annual public sector performance report at an awards Ceremony and dinner held at the Tang Palace Hotel in Accra. The report, named inspirational Public sector Leadership Awards ranked 45 Ministries, Departments and Agencies on five main pillars: Engagement, Transparency, Social Inclusion, Innovation and Management Effectiveness for the period October 2016 – October 2017.

Women in Technology Call on Communications Minister

The Minister for Communications, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has made a commitment to introduce “coding” into the educational curriculum in basic schools in the country. She said, she was in collaboration with the Ministry of Education to integrate the teaching of coding into the educational curriculum from basic school in order to demystify the myths surrounding the use of technology. “I want to put a device in the hands of every child to give them the confidence in the use of technology”, she noted.

Chamber of Telecommunications Calls on Communications Minister

The Minister for Communications, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has re-iterated her commitment to transform all post offices to provide e- government services throughout the country. She said the post offices would be well equipped with high speed internet connectivity in order to complement the Digitization drive of government. This she said will ensure that government services were decentralized across the country.
The Hon. Minster said this when the Chief Executive of the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications paid a courtesy call on her at the Ministry. 

Hungarian Delegation Calls on Communications Minister

The Minister for Communications, Hon Ursula Owusu-Ekuful on 1st December, 2017 received a delegation from Hungary in Accra to discuss issues pertaining to the development of the two countries. The Minister said, she was interested in developing deeper cooperation with the Hungarian delegation to bring about mutual benefit to the two countries. She commended the Hungarian government for including a significant number of Ghanaians in their scholarship programs to upgrade Ghanaians in various fields of study.

Judges, Prosecutors undergo Cybercrime training

The Ministry of Communications in collaboration with the Council of Europe through the Global Action on Cybercrime Extended (GLACY+) Project, Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission and the National Cyber Security Secretariat has organised a four-day (Dec. 5 – Dec. 8, 2017) training programme on cybercrime and electronic evidence for Judges, Magistrates and Prosecutors in Accra.
 

Maiden Tech-In-Ghana Conference and Exhibition Organized in Accra

The Ministry of Communications has organized a two-day Conference and Exhibition at the Accra Digital Centre to encourage the development of Ghana’s tech ecosystem.
The conference brought together the government, the private sector and SMS communities to highlight activities, innovations and opportunities for collaboration. 

Communications Minister enstooled as Nkosuohemaa of Asuom

Hon Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, Minister for Communications and MP for Ablekuma West has graciously accepted the offer to become the development queen (Nkosuohemaa) of Akyem Asuom in the Kwaebibirem District of the Eastern Region.
The offer was made to her by the chiefs and people of Asuom when she attended the 75th Anniversary celebration of Nana Yaa Anamah II, the longest serving queen mother of Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area at Asuom on Saturday, 11th November, 2017.

Finnish Business Delegates’ visit to Communications Ministry

The Minister for Communications, Hon. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 received the Minister for Foreign Trade and Development of Finland, Mr. Kai Mykkanen. He was accompanied by a 20-member business delegation.
The discussion explored business opportunities in Ghana, in the area of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and highlighted Meteorological issues.
 

Handing Over of eCIC at Elmina and Aboso-Central Region

The Deputy Minister for Communications, Hon George Andah officially handed over two Enhanced Community Information Centres (eCICs) to the respective Assemblies in the Central Region on Tuesday 7th November 2017.

Handing Over of Enhanced CIC at Nkoranza, Brong Ahafo Region

The Deputy Minister for Communications, Hon. Vincent Sowah Odotei on Friday, November 3, 2017 officially commissioned and handed over an Enhanced Community Information Centre constructed by the Ministry of Communications to the Nkoranza community in the Brong Ahafo Region.
The Enhanced Community Information Centres (eCICs) are to ensure that every community has access to ICT facilities across the country.
