Minister for Communications and Digitalization on Wednesday, 21st April, 2021, visited the Postal and Courier Regulatory Commission (PCRC) as part of her tour of the agencies under the Ministry.

Staff complained about the lack of office space and inadequate vehicles to carry out their work. They asked for capacity building for effective delivery of work.

Communications and Digitalization Minister, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful (MP) on Friday, 16^th of April, 2021 reiterated the need for the passage of a broadcasting law to regulate broadcasting activities in the country.

According to her, the passage of the law was long overdue.

Mrs Owusu-Ekuful (MP) said happenings in the current media landscape was unfortunate and there was the urgent need to regulate activities to bring sanity into the system.

Communications and Digitalization Minister, Mrs Ursula Owusu-Ekuful (MP) on Monday 19th April, 2021 visited the Ghana Domain Name Registry (GDNR) as part of her tour of the agencies of the Ministry.

In her interaction with Management and Staff of the GDNR, Minister revealed that the Ongoing digitisation of the entire public sector makes Ghana Domain Name Registry one of the important institutions to help keep data generated here in the country.

The minister for communications and Digitalisation, Mrs Ursula Owusu-Ekuful (MP) says plans are far advanced to develop the Ghanaian digital economy policy, an upgrade on the ICT for Accelerated Development (ICT4AD) policy that has been in operation since 2003.

Twitter, the Micro blogging site, and tech giant has announced it will be siting its Africa regional head office in Ghana.

“To truly serve the public conversation, we must be more immersed in the rich and vibrant communities that drive the conversations taking place every day across the African continent”, says Twitter. In affirmation of this move, Twitter has commenced recruitment of its Ghana team to be made up of local designers, engineers, and marketers.

Communications and Digitalisation Ministry today, Friday, 16th April, 2021 took over an office space at Kanda in Accra from K-NET for the Central Digital Transmission Company Limited (CDTCL).

Hon. Mrs Ursula Owusu-Ekuful in a statement indicated that Digital Transmission has received yet another major boost. "This is another step to the migration from analogue to digital".

14,000 beneficiaries will be trained in three (3) years under the Digital Transformation Centre (DTC) Initiative being implemented by the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation (MoCD) in partnership with the ITU and the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD).

According to the Communications and Digitalisation Minister, Mrs. Ursula Owusu Ekuful, the project aims at supporting four selected countries to develop digital skills in mainly rural communities utilizing GIFECs network of Community ICT Centres around the country.

The Hon. Minister for Communications and Digitalization, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, as part of the efforts to reorient staff of the Ministry in line with the expanded mandate, and to improve the oversight role, has from the 14^th of April, 2020 began official visits to the various agencies of the Ministry. The Minister, during the visit, will interact with management and staff to be able to identify challenges and potential challenges early enough to find solutions.

Accra, Ghana. The Government of Ghana and the parent companies of AirtelTigo, Bharti Airtel Ghana Holdings B.V., MIC Africa B.V have concluded negotiations and signed an agreement to transfer the shares of the company to the Ghana Government following the announcement of the company’s departure from the Ghanaian market last year.

The US Ambassador to Ghana, H.E Stephanie S. Sullivan today, Tuesday April 13, 2021 paid a courtesy call on the Minister for communication and Digitalisation, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful (MP), to congratulate her on her re-appointment and the addition of Digitalisation to her portfolio.

H.E. Sullivan assured the Minister of her country’s support to ensure she successfully fulfilled her mandate.
