Chief Director of the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation engages preparation committee

The Chief Director of the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation, Mrs Magdalene Apenteng, has urged members of the Preparation Committee putting together the Ministry's Sector Medium - Term Development Plan, (SMTDP) 2022-2025, to work hard to complete the national exercise within the stipulated time. She noted that preparation of the plan is a daunting task but expressed confidence in the ability of members of the committee to carry out the assignment.

The Minister for Communications and Digitalization, Mrs Owusu-Ekuful today met with the Minister of Energy, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, officials from the NCA, GRIDCO, GIFEC and CSquared to discuss issues regarding the ongoing collaboration between GRIDCO and GIFEC on the use of GRIDCO’s fiber as a backhaul for the extension of connectivity to rural, unserved, and underserved areas. Communications and Digitalization Minister visits Postal and Courier Services Regulatory Commission (PCSRC)

Minister for Communications and Digitalization on Wednesday, 21st April, 2021, visited the Postal and Courier Regulatory Commission (PCRC) as part of her tour of the agencies under the Ministry.

Staff complained about the lack of office space and inadequate vehicles to carry out their work. They asked for capacity building for effective delivery of work.

Passage of broadcasting law long overdue-Ursula

Communications and Digitalization Minister, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful (MP) on Friday, 16th of April, 2021 reiterated the need for the passage of a broadcasting law to regulate broadcasting activities in the country.

According to her, the passage of the law was long overdue.

Mrs Owusu-Ekuful (MP) said happenings in the current media landscape was unfortunate and there was the urgent need to regulate activities to bring sanity into the system.

Minister visits Ghana Domain Name Registry

Communications and Digitalization Minister, Mrs Ursula Owusu-Ekuful (MP) on Monday 19th April, 2021 visited the Ghana Domain Name Registry (GDNR) as part of her tour of the agencies of the Ministry.

In her interaction with Management and Staff of the GDNR, Minister revealed that the Ongoing digitisation of the entire public sector makes Ghana Domain Name Registry one of the important institutions to help keep data generated here in the country.

Twitter breaks grounds in Africa, Ghana to host headquarters

Twitter, the Micro blogging site, and tech giant has announced it will be siting its Africa regional head office in Ghana.

“To truly serve the public conversation, we must be more immersed in the rich and vibrant communities that drive the conversations taking place every day across the African continent”, says Twitter. In affirmation of this move, Twitter has commenced recruitment of its Ghana team to be made up of local designers, engineers, and marketers.

Communications and Digitalisation Ministry takes over office space for Central Digital Transmission Company Limited

Communications and Digitalisation Ministry today, Friday, 16th April, 2021 took over an office space at Kanda in Accra from K-NET for the Central Digital Transmission Company Limited (CDTCL).

Hon. Mrs Ursula Owusu-Ekuful in a statement indicated that Digital Transmission has received yet another major boost. "This is another step to the migration from analogue to digital".

14,000 people to benefit from Ghana-Norway DTC partnership

14,000 beneficiaries will be trained in three (3) years under the Digital Transformation Centre (DTC) Initiative being implemented by the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation (MoCD) in partnership with the ITU and the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD).

According to the Communications and Digitalisation Minister, Mrs. Ursula Owusu Ekuful, the project aims at supporting four selected countries to develop digital skills in mainly rural communities utilizing GIFECs network of Community ICT Centres around the country.

Communications and Digitalisation Minister starts Agency visits

The Hon. Minister for Communications and Digitalization, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, as part of the efforts to reorient staff of the Ministry in line with the expanded mandate, and to improve the oversight role, has from the 14th of April, 2020 began official visits to the various agencies of the Ministry. The Minister, during the visit, will interact with management and staff to be able to identify challenges and potential challenges early enough to find solutions.
